Maroniteparchy

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

“All who set themselves far from you and raise themselves up against you are perversely imitating you.” (St. Augustine Confessions, Book II, Chapter 6). In discussing how those who set themselves in rebellion or enmity toward the divine order, St. Augustine observed their strange and mysterious imitation of God.

It took centuries and generations to prepare the Sacred Humanity for the Divine Logos to take flesh. The list of ancestors which is read this Sunday make manifest the wisdom and power of God. Evil has tried to imitate the pattern of the Divine Mind. The chaos and moral decline of this present situation did not happen overnight, nor did it just happen by some strange accident. It was a process of links, one begetting another.
