ΟΜΙΛΙΑ ΜΕ ΤΗΝ ΕΥΚΑΙΡΙΑ ΤΟΥ ΕΟΡΤΑΣΜΟΎ ΤΗΣ ΕΟΡΤΉΣ ΤΟΥ ΑΓΊΟΥ ΜΑΡΩΝΑ

Αγαπητά εν Χριστώ αδέλφια,

  1. Μέσα στο χώμα.

 Οι κόκκοι του σιταριού δεν σπέρνονται ποτέ στο νερό ή στον αέρα ... Αυτό δείχνει τη σημασία του «καλού εδάφους» (Λουκάς 8:8), στο οποίο μας φύτεψε ο καλός Κύριος, για να κατοικήσουμε σ' αυτό ... να ζήσουμε σ' αυτό, να καρποφορήσουμε σ' αυτό ... και τελικά να πέσουμε σ' αυτό και να πεθάνουμε σ' αυτό, ακολουθώντας το παράδειγμα των προγόνων μας ... όπως λέει ο Λόγος του Θεού: «Με τον ιδρώτα του προσώπου σου θα τρως το ψωμί σου, ώσπου να ξαναγυρίσεις στη γη από την οποία προήλθες, γιατί χώμα είσαι, και στο χώμα θα επιστρέψεις». (Γεν. 3:19) ... Δεν είμαστε παρά χώμα της γης, και τα σώματά μας θα επιστρέψουν στη γη μετά από αυτή τη ζωή.

Τα σωματίδια της γης σχηματίζονται επίσης από τη σκόνη των σωμάτων των προγόνων μας. Πότισαν το χώμα, με τον ιδρώτα του προσώπου τους, το δούλεψαν με τη δύναμη των χεριών τους και το προστάτευσαν με το αίμα τους... Το αγάπησαν, ταυτίστηκαν με το χώμα του και τελικά ανακάτεψαν το χώμα τους με το χώμα εκείνων που προηγήθηκαν.

  1. Στο θάνατο.

 «Αν ο κόκκος του σιταριού που έπεσε στη γη δεν πεθάνει» ... και ποιος τολμά να πει ότι ο σωματικός θάνατος είναι λιγότερο από το πάθος και την αγάπη;... Παθιασμένοι για την αγάπη του Χριστού, πεθαίνουμε... πεθαίνουμε στο σώμα και στις σαρκικές επιθυμίες... για να ζήσουμε για τον Χριστό.

Ο θάνατός μας στην υλική και κοσμική ζωή είναι το αποκορύφωμα της αγιότητας... αγιότητα σημαίνει να είμαστε πλήρως και ολοκληρωτικά αφιερωμένοι στο Θεό. Είναι μια αφιέρωση βασισμένη στην απεριόριστη αγάπη... ακολουθώντας το παράδειγμα του πατέρα μας, του Αγίου Μάρωνα, ο οποίος εγκατέλειψε όλες τις κοσμικές απολαύσεις και έγινε ασκητής. Έτσι, ανέβηκε στη Βασιλεία για να δημιουργήσει με τη δύναμη του Αγίου Πνεύματος τη Βασιλεία ανάμεσά μας. Φύτεψε τον εαυτό του στη γη του, έναν ευλογημένο κόκκο σιταριού... που καρποφορεί στον Ιησού Χριστό, στον οποίο«πέθανε από αγάπη», και δια του οποίου αγίασε τον εαυτό του.

Έτσι ο Άγιος Μάρωνας επέτρεψε στη ζωή του να γίνει ένας ζωντανός λόγος του Θεού « που η βροχή και το χιόνι πέφτουν απ’ τον ουρανό και πίσω εκεί δεν επιστρέφουν, χωρίς να δώσουνε στη γη να πιει και να την κάνουν γόνιμη για να βλαστήσει, να δώσει σπόρο στο σποριά κι οι άνθρωποι να φάνε. Έτσι θα είναι κι ο λόγος μου που βγαίνει απ’ το στόμα μου· πίσω δεν θα επιστρέψει σ’ εμένα αδειανός, χωρίς το θέλημά μου να εκτελέσει, χωρίς να εκπληρώσει την αποστολή που του ανέθεσα ». (Ησ. 55 / 10-11)

  1. Στην αγιότητα.

Η προσφορά που παρουσιάζουμε στην Αγία Τράπεζα είναι κόκκοι σιταριού που μοιάζουν με τον μεσίτη μας, τον Άγιο Μάρωνα. Αυτοί οι κόκκοι σιταριού έπεσαν στο χώμα της γης, πέθαναν, μεγάλωσαν και καρποφόρησαν όπως και όσους άλλους κόκκους σιταριού ήθελε ο Θεός, και συνεχίζουν να καρποφορούν μέσα από εμάς σήμερα... Ναι, αυτοί οι κόκκοι σιταριού είναι ο καθένας από εμάς, γιατί όπως περιγράφει ο Απόστολος Παύλος στην πρώτη του επιστολή προς τους Κορινθίους: « Όπως ο άρτος είναι ένας, έτσι κι εμείς αποτελούμε ένα σώμα, αν και είμαστε πολλοί, γιατί όλοι τρώμε από τον ίδιο άρτο.» (Κορ. Α 10:17)

Είμαστε οι κόκκοι σιταριού του Μάρωνα, το ψωμί στο οποίο ο Ιησούς ενσαρκώνεται στην Αγία Τράπεζα σε κάθε Θεία Λειτουργία... είναι στην Αγία Τράπεζα που ο Ιησούς ενσαρκώνεται σε αυτούς τους κόκκους σιταριού, και στην ίδια Αγία Τράπεζα πεθαίνει στο θρυματισμένο ψωμί, και είναι σε αυτή την Αγία Τράπεζα που ανασταίνεται.

Σ' αυτό το ίδιο θυσιαστήριο αποκαλύπτεται η υπέρτατη αγάπη του Θεού και ο πλούτος της χάρης Του... σαν να μας λέει: Ω κόκκοι σιταριού που προσφερθήκατε σε Μένα στο θυσιαστήριο... με την προσφορά των σωμάτων σας, με την οποία προσφερθήκατε σε Μένα... Εγώ με τη σειρά Μου προσφέρω τον εαυτό Μου σε σας, αλλά, αναστημένος... μια ανάσταση στη ζωή σας... για να ζήσετε, για να μην πεθάνετε στη γη.

Όχι, αν επιλέξουμε να δεχτούμε την Θεοτόκο Μαρία, στο σπίτι μας, ο Κύριος δεν θα επιτρέψει ποτέ να πέσει ο κόκκος μας στην άκρη του δρόμου για να τον πάρει ο διάβολος και να χάσουμε την παιδική μας ιδιότητα, ούτε να πέσει στον βράχο για να μείνουμε χωρίς ρίζες και να υποκύψουμε σε δυσκολίες και πειρασμούς, ούτε στα βάτα για να μας πνίξουν οι απολαύσεις του κόσμου (Λουκ. 8: 11-15). Όχι, μαζί με τη Μαρία επιστρέφουμε στο «καλό έδαφος» με τη μετάνοια, τη μεταμέλεια και την μεταστροφή μας- το πιο όμορφο δώρο που μας έδωσε ο Κύριος για να επιστρέψουμε σε Εκείνον χωρίς ποτέ να κουραστεί να μας βλέπει να επιστρέφουμε.

Προσευχή:  Κύριε, κάνε μας να βαδίσουμε μαζί με τη Μαρία στο δρόμο του Αγίου Μάρωνα, το όνομα του οποίου φέρουμε, ώστε να γίνουμε σαν κι αυτόν, κόκκοι σιταριού που φυτεύτηκαν στο «καλό χώμα» αυτού του κόσμου, όχι μόνο για να πεθάνουν, αλλά για να καρποφορήσουν σε πληρότητα... και ας γίνουμε, σύμφωνα με το παράδειγμά του, μια προσφορά στην οποία η πατρική σου εικόνα εκδηλώνεται καθαρά ... για να γίνουμε μάρτυρες στη γη από την οποία διαμορφωθήκαμε και στην οποία θα επιστρέψουμε ... τη γη της Κύπρου, της Αγίας Μαρίνας και του μοναστηριού του Προφήτη Ηλία, της Καρπάσιας και του Τιμίου Σταυρού, του Ασωμάτου και του Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ, του Κορμακίτη και του Αγίου Γεωργίου και για όλες τις εκκλησίες των Μαρωνιτών και της Κύπρου. Κύριε, άφησε κάθε εκτοπισμένο άτομο να επιστρέψει στα σπίτια του και «αντί γι’ αγκάθια θα βλαστήσουν κυπαρίσσια, αντί για βάτα θα βλαστήσουνε μυρτιές. Αυτό θα είναι δόξα για τον Κύριο, αιώνιο σημείο, ανεξάλειπτο.» (Ησ. 55:13), Αμήν.

By the presence of His Excellency the President of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus, His Excellency Mgr Selim Sfeir, the Maronite representative Mr. Yiannakis Mousas, the President of the Cyprus Football Organization, and officials in Cyprus, the Kormakitis Football club celebrated its “Annual Christmas Party” On December 16, 2022, with great success. The goal of the event was to thank the President for his support, to gather the community, and to raise funds for the Club’s ongoing needs.

During the event, the newly constructed stadium of Kormakitis was presented and the club honored the President Nicos Anastasiades for his contribution in completing this project as well as his continuous support to the Maronite community.

Martha and Mary (Luke 10 : 38-42)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

The Canonization of Blessed Giorgio Frassati and Blessed Carlos Acutis.

Today in the holy city of Rome, our beloved Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV will solemnly elevate for the whole Church two new saints, Giorgio Frassati and Carlos Acutis. Both of these young men died very young, yet in their brief journey, they show that living for Christ takes nothing away from life but fills it with meaning and joy.

The saints are the experts in listening. Like Mary of Bethany, the saints are attentive to the voice of Christ.  They hear Him in the reading of the Gospel, they hear Him in the voice of the Church’s teaching, they hear Him in the voices of the poor and the immigrant, they hear Him in the silence of the Blessed Sacrament.  The saints don’t just hear Jesus, they listen to Him. This work of listening is to discover the voice of Christ in those right beside us, in our families and our place of work. It's also about trying to hear the voice of Christ in our contemporaries, some of whom are far from the Church.  Even in their estrangement, they are creatures of Logos, of reason, and can be unwitting transmitters of the truth.  We need to have hearts and ears capable of hearing Christ speaking from the most unlikely places.

Poor Martha in her busy kitchen of Bethany could hear Christ speaking in the other room, but she was so distracted, she couldn’t listen.  She got focused on her problems, her difficulties and her failures.  She was listening to herself and only hearing Jesus from a distance.

The Divine Logos created the human body as a custom designed parable: we have two ears and one mouth.  God is showing us that we have to do twice as much listening as we do speaking and listening is twice as hard as talking.

May our Blessed Mother, who’s beautiful birthday we shall celebrate tomorrow (for us Maronites, we think of our Lady of Mankee!) on September 8th, intercede for all of us to be betters listeners!
